The challenge
Sidesys needed to evaluate the operational capacity and stability of its appointment management system across different concurrency and load scenarios distributed across multiple branches.
One of the main challenges was that tests could not be run directly against backend services or APIs, forcing the work to be done entirely from the frontend layer of the application.
This meant dealing with several complexities tied to:
- functional validations,
- dynamic data handling,
- security restrictions,
- operational navigation,
- and real user behavior on the interface.
The context required significant analysis and technical thinking to design an execution architecture able to simulate realistic high-concurrency scenarios without affecting the operation or compromising the validity of the results.
The solution
From Qualis Lab we supported Sidesys with a specialized performance and stress testing service executed continuously for approximately six months.
The work included:
- Strategic design of execution scripts.
- Construction of realistic concurrency scenarios.
- Simulation of load distributed by branches.
- Validation of system operational behavior under stress.
- Continuous monitoring of metrics and performance.
- Iterative adjustments over the execution strategy.
To work around the environment's technical limitations, we built a specific test architecture based on Qualis Lab's in-house frameworks on top of K6, also adding observability dashboards and metrics using Grafana.
This approach made it possible to adapt executions to a highly dynamic and complex environment from both a functional and operational standpoint.
Results
- Successful validation of the appointment system's operational capacity.
- Early identification of bottlenecks and concurrency limits.
- Better understanding of system behavior under different load levels.
- Generation of metrics and continuous observability over the platform.
- Strengthened operational stability in critical scenarios.
- Consolidation of a performance testing strategy sustained over time.
- Successful adaptation of complex tests executed entirely from the frontend.
- Adoption of advanced stress testing and monitoring methodologies.
